The Friends of Rowing History is an informal group interested in the rich history of rowing. In 1992 the group comprised of Ted English, Llewllyn Howland, Tom Mendenhall, Bill Miller, Hart Perry, Bob Reed, Julien Tavener, and Tom Weil assembled at the Union Boat Club - Boston to share their common interest in celebrating rowing's past. Many ideas were expressed on how to preserve this history before it all fades away and crumbles into dust.
We are working closely with the National Rowing Foundation and also with Mystic Seaport to help establish a rowing history presence. We are happy to have anyone with a similar interest join us as well and any organization or association that could use some support to contact us. Again this is a very informal and loosely organized group.
